It all started on May 5th, 2024, what we now call our “swipe right” day, on a very questionable dating app called Boo (we both agree it was a solid C-rated experience at best). Somehow, in the middle of all that chaos, we found each other… and within 48 hours, we had both deleted the app, after making sure we had each other’s numbers, of course.
What followed were weeks of constant texting, long phone calls, video chats, and one of our favorite things (then and now): playing video games together. By the time we met in person on June 1st, it already felt like we’d known each other forever.
Our first date was dinner at a Mexican restaurant, where we were seated about six feet away from a very enthusiastic live mariachi band. Between the music and us practically yelling across the table, it’s a miracle we learned anything new, but it gave us one of our favorite memories to laugh about.
After that, we were pretty much inseparable, spending all our time talking, laughing, and getting to know each other on a deeper level. On June 15th, 2024, Tyler asked me to be his girlfriend, and the rest is history.
From the beginning, our relationship has been rooted in our shared faith in Jesus, a love for laughter in every season, video games, and a strong connection to family. Over time, we’ve shared more laugh-until-we-cry moments than we can count and became not just partners, but best friends. We also started a weekly couple’s Bible study devotional that continues to keep us grounded and growing together.
Somewhere along the way, we discovered we both love traveling, exploring new cities, taking trips (including one all the way to Canada), and learning that while I may not love airplanes, Tyler definitely doesn’t love packing.
When we planned a trip to Florida to visit his parents, a trip we had been looking forward to for months, I had no idea it would become one of the most important moments of our lives. We met them in Fort Lauderdale, a place that means so much to their family. We had dinner reservations on the beach, but got there early (which I didn’t think anything of at the time… classic me), so we decided to take a walk along the shore.
As we walked, Tyler started sharing how much our relationship meant to him and everything we had built together. Then he asked if I wanted to do this for a lifetime. Completely surprised and at a total loss for words, I watched as he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the easiest “yes” of my life. In that moment, everything else faded away. I didn’t even notice the cheers from the people nearby.
We are so excited for what God has in store for us and feel incredibly blessed to be planning this next chapter surrounded by our family and friends. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
